Rating Burner is a website which compiles a top of blogs around the internet and sorts them by the number of RSS subscribers. While this is a nice list, it seems highly inaccurate, right from the beginning. As you can see in the Top 10 RSS “whores” of the blogosphere I’ve compiled previously, TechCrunch is not on the first spot, being outnumbered by Engadget. Also, Mashable is way down on my (correct) top, not on the 2nd spot. As you can see, there are several blogs which have lots more subscribers that Mashable, such as Simply Recipes, Boing Boing, Daily Kos and so on.
So, while being a useful service, it is, as I said, not accurate, at least at the top of the list. I wonder what’s the source of these numbers and how is it possible that they don’t have big blogs, such as Engadget and Boing Boing, in their list.
Anyway, thumbs up for the initiative.
