While searching for ways to promote my blog and to increase the number of RSS subscribers, I found a post on John Chow’s blog about rssHugger
I wanted to give it a try, so here we go, this the review needed to get “in”.
What is rssHugger about? Basically, you send your blog for review and, if approved, you are included in their (some-kind-of) directory. This should help promote your blog, plus increase your RSS subscribers number. They have a “Top 100 section” (probably the best exposure), a “New RSS Feeds” section, which is a good thing, because it gives everyone a fair chance to get views/subscribers and finally, a “Random Feed” function, serving you a random (doh) feed - good for discovering feeds (much like StumbleUpon).
As mentioned above, you either have to write a review about their service to be accepted or pay $20 for 10 years of inclusion. It’s your choice.
Some thoughts: while the idea is good for promoting your feed, it should really get some boost of traffic in order to actually help blogs with more than 2 new subscribers :). Besides, you should know that initially, you have to pay either $20 or $10 + a review to submit your feed. I think that it is a good move to change the payment type to what it is currently, because this will bring in loads of links and traffic.
Anyway, I like to try new things…so here we are, let’s see how will this perform!

Your blog has been approved.
I can’t see paying for a service if I don’t know how it works. Please keep us informed about the rssHugger and let me know how it works for you.
Well, as I said, I didn’t pay anything for this - just the review above :).
I am not yet in Top 100 list, so no big thing. My blog appears only in the New feeds section, on the 19th spot. I’ll keep you posted.
