Today’s news: 14.12.07

I thought I’d express my opinion, just like everyone did, about some recent things.

First of all, Movable Type goes fully open source. I’m using wordpress for this site, but this move from Six Apart team, who owns movably Type, should encourage competition. It will be interesting to see what WP’s next move will be.

Then, it seems that Opera is not ok with M$ policy on bundling IE with Windows, and files an antitrust complaint with the EU against the Redmond giant. It’s kinda late, since we all know that M$ always had problems in the European space, while running ok in the US. Anyway, congrats Opera. Better later than never.

Also, Google goes one step further to web/world domination by preparing to launch a new site call Knol that will combine parts of Wikipedia and Squidoo to create a new user generated authoritative online knowledgebase of everything. It seems that besides G’s desires of indexing the world’s content, they also want to provide this content. Errm, what’s next?

Last but not least, Google’s Analytics was upgraded, yet again. You can now graph two metrics against each other to see how they correlate. If you’d like to see how your AdWords traffic compares with your site average, or pageviews vs uniques you can do so. These are included in the new graphing feature, which will graph the multiple data points at once.

That’s for now. Kind of speedlinking, like others like to call it.

I have never used Movable Type before, but this could open up to a lot more people trying it out.
